Psychic Chat Ratings reviews one category of service: live, text-based psychic chat platforms — the kind where you sign in, get matched with or pick an advisor, and pay per minute or per session for a real-time typed conversation. At the time of writing (August 2026) we have published full reviews of six platforms — Kasamba, Keen, Purple Garden, California Psychics, Psychic Source, and Oranum — alongside a directory of 12,940 individual advisor profiles pulled from the platforms we cover. This page explains exactly how a review gets built, scored, and kept up to date.
What we review, and what we don’t
We don’t review phone-only hotlines, standalone tarot or astrology apps, or horoscope newsletters. Chat leaves a transcript, and a transcript is something we can point to line by line — a phone call’s tone and pacing don’t translate the same way into a side-by-side comparison. Narrowing our scope this way is a trade-off: we cover fewer categories of service, but everything we do cover is tested against the same fixed rubric.
The five things every review scores
Every platform review on this site is built from the same five-axis rubric, each axis scored out of 5. Below is the weighting we use to combine them into the single overall score shown at the top of each review.
| Axis | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Advisor Quality | 30% | Whether sessions were specific and internally consistent, how advisors handled follow-up questions, and whether the platform’s own screening or vetting claims (as described on its help pages) matched what we experienced in testing. |
| Pricing Transparency | 25% | Whether per-minute or per-session rates were visible before we paid, whether an intro or free-trial rate carried through honestly to the standard rate, and whether the running cost stayed visible during a live session. |
| Trust & Safety | 20% | Refund and satisfaction-guarantee terms, how a cancellation or billing dispute was actually handled when we tested it, and what the platform’s own policy pages commit to in writing. |
| Customer Support | 15% | Response time and resolution quality when we contacted support directly, and whether the help documentation matched what we experienced. |
| Mobile App & UX | 10% | How easily the interface lets you find an advisor, see pricing before committing, and end a session cleanly, on both desktop and mobile. |
This weighting is our own published rubric, not an industry standard. We built it around what most affects a paying customer’s experience on a chat platform: getting a genuinely useful session (Advisor Quality) and not being surprised by the bill (Pricing Transparency) matter most, in our view, so they carry the most weight. Having real recourse if something goes wrong (Trust & Safety) comes next. Support responsiveness and interface polish matter too, but move the needle less, so they carry less weight.
How five scores become one number
The overall score shown at the top of a review is the weighted average of the five axis scores above, each axis scored independently before the weighting is applied. Concretely: an axis score out of 5 is multiplied by its weight, the five results are summed, and the total is the overall score — a platform that scores a flat 4.5 on every axis publishes an overall score of 4.5, while a platform that scores strongly on Advisor Quality and Pricing Transparency but weaker on Mobile App & UX will land close to, but not exactly at, a simple average, because the two heaviest-weighted axes pull harder on the result. At the time of writing, published overall scores across the six platforms we’ve reviewed range from 4.3 to 4.8 out of 5.

How a score moves
A platform’s overall score changes only when the underlying axis evidence changes — a new pricing page, an updated refund policy, a re-tested session. It does not move on its own, and we do not publish an overall score until a platform has been through our minimum testing window (see below).
What’s inside a review
Beyond the headline score, every platform review on this site is built from the same set of components, so you can compare any two reviews section by section:
- At-a-glance summary — the key facts (pricing model, free-trial terms, advisor count, support channels) pulled out for a quick read before the detail.
- Pricing table — the tiers and rates we verified directly, not a rate a platform told us to publish.
- Pros and cons — drawn from the axis evidence, not a generic list; each point traces back to something we logged in testing.
- Feature breakdown — what the platform actually offers (chat formats, advisor filters, session tools), described from hands-on use.
- Comparison table — how the platform stacks up against others we’ve reviewed on price and rating, so you don’t have to open six tabs.
- FAQ — the questions we were asked, or asked ourselves, while testing — not filler keywords.
- Sources — every policy page, pricing page, and third-party listing we cited, with the date we checked it.
Where the evidence comes from
- Our own testing — paid sessions logged as they happen, with transcripts and receipts retained by the editorial team, then checked by a second editor before a score is finalized.
- Each platform’s own help center, pricing, and guarantee or refund policy pages — cited by name, and by URL where one exists, at the bottom of every review, so a claim can be checked against where it came from.
- Independent third-party aggregators — for example Trustpilot, Sitejabber, and Better Business Bureau listings — used as a directional signal on complaint patterns and volume, not as a scored input on their own.
- The advisor-profile directory we maintain — 12,940 profiles at the time of writing — used to describe roster size and specialty coverage for a platform, not as a substitute for hands-on testing of the platform itself.
One thing we don’t currently do: collect visitor-submitted ratings on individual advisor profile pages. Profile pages on this site show directory information about a platform’s roster, not a reader review system — if that changes, this page will say so.
What we deliberately don’t check
Do you verify that a psychic’s predictions are accurate?
No. Whether a reading is accurate isn’t something an outside reviewer can test or falsify, and we don’t claim to. Our review measures the platform experience — advisor consistency, pricing honesty, support, safety terms, and usability — not whether a prediction comes true. See our disclaimer for the full entertainment-purposes statement.
Do platforms pay to be reviewed, or to get a higher score?
No. We buy every session ourselves at the platform’s normal price, and no platform sees a review before it publishes. See our editorial policy and affiliate disclosure for the full detail on how this site is funded and how that’s kept separate from scoring.
Have you personally tested all 12,940 advisor profiles?
No. Our hands-on testing — buying sessions and logging transcripts — happens at the platform level: six platforms so far. The advisor directory is aggregated roster information published by each platform, not individually tested sessions with every advisor listed on it.
Review cadence, and how to flag an error
We re-test on a recurring basis rather than scoring a platform once and leaving it. When a platform changes its pricing, its trial terms, its screening process, or its ownership, we re-test before updating the published score, and the review notes when it was last verified. See who does that testing.
If something on a review looks out of date or wrong — a price that’s changed, a policy that’s been updated, a broken source link — tell us through the contact page. We investigate every correction request and verify the change ourselves before updating a page; see our editorial policy for how that process works.
