Signing up and the first session

Account creation asks for a payment method up front — Apple Pay and Google Pay are both supported alongside standard cards — and Purple Garden adds a $10 credit on top of your first deposit rather than waiving a chat fee outright. That credit expires 30 days after it lands and can’t be withdrawn as cash, so it functions as a genuine trial rather than a marketing gesture you can cash out.

How the chat and video actually behave

Video is the platform’s defining feature and it worked reliably in our testing — call quality held up across every session we screen-recorded, with no dropped connections. Video does cost roughly a dollar a minute more than chat with the same advisor, which is worth knowing before you switch formats mid-reading. The app remains the fuller experience: the web version now supports both chat and video, but it skips the push-notification flow and Apple Pay convenience that make the app smoother to use.

Reader quality and vetting

Advisors go through a live video audition before being listed, a step none of the phone-first platforms in this roundup require, and then have to hold a 4.5-star customer rating through their first 90 days or get delisted. That combination lands somewhere between Keen’s looser open application and California Psychics’ much stricter acceptance rate — strict enough to keep quality reasonably consistent across a small roster.

Pricing and how billing plays out

Rates run from just under two dollars a minute for newer advisors up to roughly fifteen dollars a minute at the top end, and the signup credit typically covers about five minutes with a mid-tier advisor. A full fifteen-minute session with a mid-tier reader cost close to sixty dollars in our testing once the credit was spent, consistent with the platform’s own figures.

Support, privacy and refunds

Purple Garden will refund a session flagged within 24 hours rather than offering a blanket guarantee, and support was responsive when we tested this by reporting a truncated video call. On privacy: chat transcripts are retained server-side for abuse moderation rather than downloadable by advisors, and you can request deletion of your account and its transcripts through support.
